About the SIG Leader

Since 1989, Scott Weiss has been working steadily as an information architect and usability expert. His resume includes positions held with several Fortune 500 companies, including Apple Computer, Microsoft, Sybase and Autodesk. His contributions can be found in the user interfaces for Macintosh OS, Windows, Microsoft Outlook (originally Schedule+), AutoCAD r14, and AutoCAD LT 2.0 and 3.0. In addition, his work with visual controls for interactive television resulted in Sybase receiving a patent.

In 1996, Scott started Usable Products Company to provide usability testing and information architecture services for the Fortune 500 market. Since then, Usable Products has provided services to Dun & Bradstreet, Intel, GlaxoSmithKline, Charles Schwab, GE and many other companies across a variety of industries.

Currently, Scott chairs the New York City chapter of ACM's SIG CHI, the Special Interest Group for Computer Human Interaction. He also chairs the New York New Media Association's Design Special Interest Group. He recently completed the manuscript for "Handheld Usability" (John Wiley & Sons, available June, 2002).
